If you have followed this blog for a while, you will know that I have talked about Gary Vaynerchuk previously. I wasn’t planning to create a new post about Gary but given the value of this podcast, I felt compelled to share.
For those of you who are unfamiliar, Gary Vaynerchuk is a celebrated commentator on digital marketing and social media strategy. Through his podcasts and appearances on YouTube, Gary shares a wealth of information which is beneficial if you are just starting out or have a seasoned presence online.
Gary’s content is great to have on hand if you are feeling a little lazy and need a kick up the backside! Most of the time, it’s not even about what Gary says. Rather, you get the sense that he is always hustling which leaves you with a powerful yet uncomfortable feeling that you need to be doing the same, in order to achieve. I encourage you to sample this for yourself on the School of Greatness podcast below that Gary did recently with Lewis Howes. A word of warning. There is a little coarse language and Gary’s style can come across as a little abrasive. But if you can get past this, the podcast is definitely worth the effort.
What I really appreciate about Gary and what I think separates him from some others is that he walks the talk. Not only does he discuss entrepreneurship, digital marketing, social media strategy etc. but he supports this with concepts you can actually implement. One such example is his $1.80 Instagram / social media strategy which Gary discusses at the 24 minute mark of the podcast. It’s a simple concept but one which could help build a meaningful following online. For some background on this strategy, check out this post from Gary’s website.
Gary is very giving in terms of the wealth of information and strategies he provides though various mediums. This approach is captured within his own Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook business philosophy, where you focus on delivering significant value for your audience upfront (the Jabs) before you ask for something in return (the Right Hook).
Gary appeared on the above School of Greatness podcast, to publicize his new book Crushing It! How Great Entrepreneurs Build Their Business and Influence and How You Can, Too. It is a sequel of sorts to his 2009 bestseller, Crush It. The podcast does touch on the book but there’s a wealth of information across a variety of areas which make it worth checking out. One aspect I really enjoyed was Gary’s take on Lewis’ Three Truths to live your life by. I found Gary’s responses to be so worthwhile that I have saved them into a list of memorable quotes which refer to regularly. Check out the exchange here.
I hope you enjoy the podcast and would love to hear your feedback. Drop me a note below.
