The Healing Power of Pets

The Healing Power of Pets

The power of pets to reduce stress, enhance happiness and increase motivation are concepts that have long been discussed. For me, this topic became all the more relevant a little while ago after welcoming puppies into our home. I must confess, I have always liked pets, particularly dogs, and liked the thought of having them around. But even I have blown away by the positive impact they have had on our lives. As such, I thought it would be worthwhile delving into research looking at the healing power of pets. I also wanted to figure out if this all depended on the type of pet you have. After all, not everyone has the means or space to have larger pets like cats or dogs. Continue reading “The Healing Power of Pets”

4 Famous Failure Before Success Stories – As Shared by Jay Shetty

4 Famous Failure Before Success Stories – As Shared by Jay Shetty

As I mentioned in a previous post, I have recently discovered the online works of Jay Shetty and wanted to share the following YouTube clip of “Famous Failures Before Success Stories”.

The whole clip is less than 4 minutes so won’t be too taxing on your time. I found it worthwhile just to reinforce the concept that failures or setbacks signposts to success. The example Jay shares about the cartoonist is a doozy! Continue reading “4 Famous Failure Before Success Stories – As Shared by Jay Shetty”

Grow Your Side Hustle into a Successful Business – Courtesy of Quid Corner

Grow Your Side Hustle into a Successful Business – Courtesy of Quid Corner

The following post on growing your side hustle into a successful business was recently released on Quid Corner. Personally, I found it to be of interest and thought it might be of value to you as well.

The post sets out 10 steps to go from a side-hustle into a full-time occupation. I particularly liked the idea of reaching out to mentors to support you on your journey and working with complimentary businesses to maximize your reach. The Pro Tip on using LinkedIn to reach out to mentors is a great suggestion and one I will be looking to utilize.

The post does go on to stress the importance of taking small, considered steps towards achieving your objectives as in reality, it’s not sprint but a marathon. Also, as Quid Corner is an English website, some of the terminology and references do cater to a more local audience. That being said the value of the content remains. Let me know what you think. Master Your Daily Routine – Secrets of the Millionaire Mind Book Review

Master Your Daily Routine – Secrets of the Millionaire Mind Book Review

I was speaking with a friend a while ago and mentioned that I was finding it hard to stay disciplined with daily tasks. I had good intentions but consistent effort remained elusive. My friend recommended that I check out Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Eker. It had helped my friend with his daily routine and to take consistent effort towards his goals. Secrets of the Millionaire Mind was not a book that I had been familiar with but reading it has had a profound impact on my life. Dreaming Boldly – The Amazing Story of Dr Tererai Trent

How do you go from having 4 kids by 18 to chasing your dreams?

Today, I wanted to share with you the amazing journey of Dr Tererai Trent, described by Oprah Winfrey as her “all-time favorite guest”.

Having children while still a child herself, Tererai was destined to have the same life as her mother and grandmother before her in a rural cattle-herding village in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). Then at the age of 19, while expecting her 5th child, a chance encounter helped her to dream and changed her life forever.

Dr Trent recently shared her amazing story on Lewis Howes’ School of Greatness podcast:

Minutes to a Happier You – The 5 Minute Journal

I know, I know…. The title is a bit cliched but hear me out 🙂 I wanted to share with you a little routine which could help you stay happier and more balanced throughout the day. All it takes is about 5 minutes.

Business-Man

Before I dive right in, I thought it might be worthwhile sharing why I think this technique is so powerful.

Over the past year, my daily routine has changed significantly but I think the one thing that has had the most impact is a journalling exercise which takes about 5 minutes. Before I adopted this exercise, I would have days when I’d come home from work holding onto some negative comment or thought I’d encountered throughout the day. So not only would I have an average day at work but then I’d also be bringing that baggage home, which is not good for me or those around me.

Having adopted this exercise for a few weeks, it dawned on me one day that my mood seemed to be better and was staying more balanced throughout the day.

Tim Ferriss Discusses Turning 40 and His Personal Battles

I came across this article a while ago and thought it would be worthwhile sharing. It was posted by Tim Ferriss on LinkedIn towards the end of last year and casts him in a different light, reflecting on his personal battles on the way to 40.

The article shares a great example of the power of resilience despite the challenges along the way:

“Truth be told, I never thought I’d make it to 40. My first book was rejected 27 times by publishers. The things that worked out weren’t supposed to work, so I realized on my birthday: I had no plan for after 40.”
